We have recently concluded LOGICoyote CAD Challenge 2023, Carnival Craze! LCC is a virtual CAD competition in which we design a game, and then have teams spend 1 week designing a robot that could theoretically compete in said game. It took place from June 3rd-10th, and over 45 teams were represented, including teams from FTC, FRC, and VEX. Prizes for our top 3 teams, as well as a prize for our highest innovation subscore, were provided by GoBuilda. Pictured below are our game field and the winning robot from team 789, the Loony Squad.

On April 3rd, LOGICoyote and our New Kent Robotics Club had the opportunity to take a tour of the NASA Langley facility and had an amazing time learning about the applications of what we learn on the team/club.
New Kent Robotics – Team 16537 LOGICoyote competed at the Norfolk Qualifier (January 29). The team was outstanding, winning 3 of their 5 qualifying matches, being selected into the finals tournament and winning one match there. They were also honored with an INSPIRE 2 award and Motivate 2 award. The Inspire awards are the highest awards given at competitions, and is given to “role model FIRST teams…top contenders for many other judged awards and are gracious competitors”. Unfortunately, only two teams advanced from this competition to the District Championship, and Inspire 2 is the 3rd slot for advancement – so team 16537 missed advancement by a whisker! We are all very proud of what these students accomplished this season, and we wish the best to all those teams who advanced!

January 17th 2023 – Team 16537 LOGICoyote at the Charlottesville Qualifier, Jan 15. The team did really well – the robot design has fully come together and performed well. The team definitely has some more work to do before our next competition in 2 weeks (1/29 @ Norfolk State University), but they have an excellent foundation to build on! During Qualifying matches we had 3 wins and 2 losses, but we were not selected into the finals tournament. During the award ceremony, LOGIOCoyote was awarded 1st place Design Award – “Industrial design at its best. This judged award recognizes design elements of the robot that are both functional and aesthetic. The Design Award is presented to teams that incorporate industrial design elements into their solution. These design elements could simplify the robot’s appearance by giving it a clean look, be decorative in nature, or otherwise express the creativity of the team. The robot should be durable, efficiently designed, and effectively address the game challenge.”
